Pretoria's Hidden Gem: Ivory Manor Boutique Hotel - Unforgettable Luxury Awaits!

Ivory Manor: Where Luxury Whispers in the Pretoria Sun (And Hopefully, Doesn't Scream "Pricey!")

Okay, buckle up, buttercups, because I'm about to spill the tea (or maybe the champagne, considering the kind of place Ivory Manor is) on this "Hidden Gem" in Pretoria. Honestly? The whole boutique hotel thing can be a gamble. You're either getting a slightly-too-fancy B&B crammed with designer everything, or a genuine experience. Let's find out if Ivory Manor delivers… or just delivers a hefty bill.

First Impressions: The Wow Factor (and the Impatient Glance for the Elevator)

Right off the bat, the place is beautiful. Think crisp white walls, lush greenery (there's even a freaking shrine, if you're into that spiritually-inclined kinda thing), and a sense of… well, sophistication. This isn't your average chain hotel; it's got character. They've clearly put a lot of thought into the design. Okay, the elevator is a must-mention - I was a bit tired after flying so I was so happy when I saw they had one. I'd say it's a total win, for accessibility, which is good if you're schlepping luggage or, you know, aren't a mountain goat.

Accessibility, Baby! (Because Let's Face It, It Matters)

They've thoughtfully included facilities for disabled guests. Which, again, bravo. I saw no mention of specific adapted rooms online, so I recommend you phone them to confirm if you have specific needs. They also make sure there are CCTV cameras in common areas and outside the property. Always a good sign. Car park is free of charge, with valet parking too.

Cleanliness and Safety: My Inner Germaphobe is Soothed

Alright, so, safety. This is HUGE right now, right? Ivory Manor gets it. Anti-viral cleaning products? Check. Daily disinfection in common areas? Double-check. Rooms sanitized between stays? Triple-check. The reviews online seemed to confirm this, which is a major relief. They've got hand sanitizer everywhere and their staff are genuinely trained in safety protocols. I especially appreciate the hot water linen and laundry washing and sanitized kitchen and tableware items. Seriously, I'm not a super germaphobe, but the peace of mind is worth a lot right now. And the doctor/nurse on call gives you a nice feeling of "they've got you"

Rooms: My Sanctuary (Hopefully With Wi-Fi That Works!)

Okay, the rooms. Air conditioning, yes! Blackout curtains, a MUST for a good night's sleep. Free Wi-Fi (and it WORKS, thank the heavens!), a coffee/tea maker, and a gorgeous private bathroom with a separate shower and bathtub – all the essentials. My room had a lovely refrigerator and a mini-bar situation. The bathrobes are fluffy, the slippers are comfy, and the towels are plush. I’m a sucker for a good towel. The alarm clock, desk, and in-room safe box are expected, and the satellite/cable channels are a nice touch. Non-smoking rooms are the norm, thankfully. And if you need an interconnecting room, they've got you covered.

The Internet Saga (Because It Is Important)

Look, let’s be honest: good Wi-Fi is a necessity, not a luxury. Ivory Manor delivered. Free Wi-Fi in all rooms! The Internet access – wireless and Internet access – LAN (in case you're old-school like me) did its job. I had zero issues with connectivity. Huge win. I need to get my work done, or the fun stuff, you know: to post my stunning photos.

Dining: From Buffet Bliss to Late-Night Snacks (and Hopefully, Not Too Stuffy)

The food scene is where Ivory Manor really shines. Breakfast [buffet] game is strong, with a wide selection of everything. Plus, there are alternative meal arrangements if needed. The Asian breakfast is available for those seeking an adventure, and you can even get Asian cuisine in restaurant. You're able to get a Breakfast in room or a Breakfast takeaway service.

The restaurants themselves are beautiful and offer a a la carte. Coffee/tea in restaurant is obviously there. They also have a bar and a poolside bar, for pre-dinner drinks or for after-sun lounging. I also saw Happy hour advertised. If you want a quick fix, there is a snack bar and coffee shop. I did see desserts in restaurant, and salad in restaurant, but I didn't get a chance to try them. I had a spectacular dinner at the Vegetarian restaurant. It had the best Western cuisine in restaurant, the International cuisine in restaurant was a plus. You can't go hungry here. The Room service [24-hour] is a lifesaver, especially after a looooong day. You can order a Bottle of water and get ready for your day.

Oh, and the Pool, and that View…Sigh

The swimming pool [outdoor] is stunning. Seriously, that picture online doesn’t do it justice. And the Pool with view…wow. There is also a Fitness center. Gym/fitness, and other things to make more fitness oriented people feel at home. If you're in need of relaxation after your swim, they have a Spa/sauna. You can also spend time in a steamroom or have a Sauna.

Things To Do & Ways to Relax: From Bubbles to Bliss

Alright, let's talk about the pampering! The Spa is gorgeous. They say the Body wrap is legendary. If you want to detox, then you can use a Body scrub. They have a Foot bath too. They also offer Massage. I did feel so relaxed! It's a great place to relax, not just a place to sleep.

Services and Conveniences: Because Life Should Be Easy

Daily housekeeping is a given, but always welcome. Laundry service, dry cleaning, and ironing service are all available. They have a Concierge, which I love. And the Contactless check-in/out is a nice touch in these times. There's a convenience store and a gift/souvenir shop (because, souvenirs!). Currency exchange, cash withdrawal, luggage storage, and safety deposit boxes… they've thought of everything. They even offer food delivery, and there are also facilities for disabled guests. You can Invoice provided if it serves your needs.

For the Kids: Babysitters AND Kid-Friendly (I'm Sold)

For the parents amongst us, they have a Babysitting service and Kids meal. The family/child friendly vibe is a huge plus.

Getting Around: Easier Than You Think

They offer a reliable Airport transfer. You have Bicycle parking and Car park [free of charge]. You can park on-site with the Car park [on-site]. They also have a Car power charging station, which I found awesome, plus you can hire a Taxi service. I'd recommend taking the valet parking to make your experience simpler.

Business Travelers: Can't Forget About You!

I took a quick look around the hotel, and the Business facilities are well catered for. The rooms, and public areas, can provide Air conditioning in public area. They offer Audio-visual equipment for special events, a Projector/LED display and the Meeting/banquet facilities are excellent. You’re able to book a Meeting and use Meeting stationery. They offer Seminars, as well as Wi-Fi for special events, and a Xerox/fax in business center.

The Quirky Bits & My Emotional Takeaway

Okay, the things that really stood out? The service. It's genuinely friendly without being overly fussy. The staff are attentive, helpful, and seem genuinely invested in making your stay great. They also have a shrine! I found it interesting, but it wasn't for me.

My Verdict:

Ivory Manor is not cheap, but it's worth it if you're looking to treat yourself and prioritize a well-rounded, luxurious experience.

Overall Rating: 4.5 out of 5 Stars (They lost half a star for the slightly-too-formal breakfast service – but I’m nitpicking).

Ivory Manor Boutique Hotel Pretoria South Africa

Okay, buckle up, buttercups, because we're about to plan a trip to the Ivory Manor Boutique Hotel in Pretoria, South Africa, and let me tell you, this is going to be less "rigid itinerary" and more "beautiful chaos." Think slightly tipsy adventure, peppered with existential sighs and the occasional desperate search for a decent cup of coffee.

Ivory Manor: Pretoria - The (Un)Planned Expedition

Day 1: Arrival and the Illusion of Calm

  • Morning (like, REALLY morning, thanks jet lag): Land at OR Tambo International Airport. Okay, deep breaths. Dealing with the sheer volume of people, the customs lines, the desperate need for a toilet after a nine-hour flight…it can be overwhelming. I'm usually a sweaty mess by this point. Pro tip: Pack an emergency deodorant in your carry-on. You'll thank me. Eventually, we wrangle our way to the car rental. Pray for a car that actually works.
  • Mid-Morning (ish): The drive to Ivory Manor. Google Maps claims it's about an hour, but knowing my luck, it'll be closer to two, filled with wrong turns and the panicked realization that I've forgotten how to drive on the "other side of the road." I'M SO SORRY, PEOPLE.
  • Afternoon: The First Impression & a Panic-Induced Nap: Finally! We pull up to Ivory Manor. The pictures online look stunning, but… will they deliver in person? Okay, here we go. (This is where the emotional roller coaster begins.) Honestly? The place takes my breath away. The elegance! The gardens! The sheer peace oozing from every corner… for like, the first five minutes. Then I remember I haven't slept in 24 hours, and the sheer luxury starts to feel a little…intimidating. I need to rest. I NEED TO NAP. I've got a room, I'm dropping my bags, and I'm collapsing.
  • Late Afternoon – Evening: The Grand Tour (and a near meltdown): After a two-hour power nap (bless you, Ivory Manor bed!), feeling slightly human again. First order of business: Explore the grounds. Ooh, the pool looks inviting. I'm going to need a cocktail later. Taking a walk and exploring the grounds and the public areas is an amazing experience. It's all so beautiful - and then, the sheer terror hits. What if I'm not fancy enough for this place? What if I spill red wine on the ridiculously expensive antique furniture? I need to breathe. Seriously, deep breaths. I'm going to mess this up. Okay, fine. Get a grip, self. I'm just going to embrace the chaos. Dinner (hopefully with a good South African wine). Afterwards, a nightcap in the bar. I will not order anything too complicated, and I will try to use the correct silverware. Wish me luck.

Day 2: Pretoria Pilgrimage and the Great Coffee Quest

  • Morning: The Coffee Crisis & The Voortrekker Monument (or Attempt Thereof): Okay, first thing's first: COFFEE. The hotel's supposedly got a decent cafĂ©, but the first cup? Slightly underwhelming. This is a crisis. Fueling a caffeine addiction is absolutely critical. After all, there's Pretoria to conquer. Today's the day we're going to see some sights. I've made a vague mental note to visit the Voortrekker Monument. Driving in Pretoria…well, let's just say it's an "experience." I hate that the driving is so bad.
  • Mid-Morning: The Voortrekker Monument (and the existential reflections on history): We made it! Okay, the Voortrekker Monument is… a lot. Massive, imposing, steeped in history (both good and bad). I have mixed feelings. I get the history, but…it's a bit much. (If you have to climb a bunch of stairs to get there, it helps to pause and take in the view.) Great views of Pretoria, and I start to think about the complexity of history and… whoa, I need some air.
  • Afternoon: Church Square and the Search for Flavor: Time to explore Church Square, allegedly the heart of Pretoria. More history, more buildings. (Buildings that are just so beautiful) This is where I start my quest for a decent lunch. I need something authentically South African. I'm tired of the bland food here. I just need a good bobotie. I end up picking up an average take-away.
  • Late Afternoon – Evening: Back to the Manor, with a heavy heart… and a much better dinner: Back to the manor for a massage? Yes, please. Because right now, I need to relax. I'm struggling. It’s hard to connect to a foreign culture in a matter of just hours, and the weight of my own preconceptions is heavy. I need to enjoy myself. I need to breathe (again!). Dinner is the hotel. And, hallelujah, the food is actually good this time. I have survived another day. And look, the sunset is pretty spectacular.

Day 3: A Whirlwind of Adventure, and a Hint of Departure

  • Morning: The Lion and the Panic: I've decided I want to experience a lion park. It seemed like a great idea last night when I was three glasses of wine deep. Now, in the harsh light of morning, I'm a bit terrified. Lions! Close enough to touch!! Is this a brilliant idea or a disaster waiting to happen? I really hope my nerves don't get the better of me.

  • Mid-Morning to Afternoon: Lion Park - The Raw Footage: The Lion Park was…an experience. I got some amazing pictures! (And yes, I was definitely holding my breath the whole time.) My brain is still trying to process what just happened. But I survived!

  • Late Afternoon: The Farewell: It's almost time to leave. I wander around the hotel for a final time, taking it all in. I'm going to miss this place. Pretoria's beauty is growing on me.

  • Evening: Farewell Dinner: One last amazing meal at the hotel. A final toast to the adventure, to the good times, and to the fact that I didn't completely embarrass myself in front of the staff.

Day 4: Leaving and the Lasting Impression

  • Morning: Departure: The drive back to the airport. I make it (miraculously!)
  • Final Thoughts (and a promise to return): Honestly, this trip was way more than I ever planned. I learned a lot, saw a lot, and messed up a lot. But that's life, right? The Ivory Manor was truly magnificent, and Pretoria’s beauty is something else. I think I will go back some time.

And that's it! No strict itinerary, just a messy, honest, and hopefully slightly entertaining account of a trip to Ivory Manor. Now go forth and embrace the chaos!
